The Story Behind Blue Therapy Project
By Lauri Sloan, Executive Director & Creator
When we first started attending shows, we were astonished to meet so many people who all had such amazing stories to tell about how the water healed them.
We would leave the show talking more about the people we met and their stories than we did about our financial profits.
The stories came from all different people; people with autism, veterans suffering from PTSD, people with physical disabilities, and even some with severe mental health issues.
They all had one thing in common…
The water saved them!
These stories hit close to home with us after witnessing this transformation with my own husband. The water and diving saved his life, and I loved that this was the case with so many other people as well.

We started talking about how we could possibly help others find the same healing powers of the water. We envisioned our own nonprofit to help get more people in, under, and around water.
After each show, we would always say,
“There is a bigger mission here than just selling our brand!”
After a trip to St. Thomas with our son’s college HBCU basketball team, we came back knowing that our vision needed to be carried out for sure!
While in St. Thomas, we got to witness the healing powers of the water once again.
One day towards the end of our trip, we decided to bring the team to our resort to swim and snorkel for the day. Many of the guys had never been out of the United States, let alone to a Caribbean island, and most of them had never snorkeled or swam in the ocean before.

We rented gear and watched them take turns swimming out to the shallow reefs right off our resort beach. It was amazing and exciting to watch them jump out of the water to tell us about all the ocean life around them. They were mesmerized by what they saw!
Watching them for hours swim, snorkel and just let go of all their stress was the absolute best feeling!
My husband and I both knew that afternoon we had to do everything we could to make Blue Therapy Project a reality, and to help more people find their own blue therapy!
